Illegal alien held in Galveston County jail on rape charges

TEXAS CITY — U.S. Marshals with the help of deputies from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspected illegal immigrant on Friday who was wanted for two rapes in Tennessee.

Mauricio Morales, 32, was found in the attic of a house in Texas City, the sheriff’s office confirmed. He is wanted for the rapes of two women in Nashville.

Mauricio Morales, 32, was found in the attic of a house in Texas City, the sheriff’s office confirmed. Morales was wanted on warrants for the rapes of two Nashville women as well as aggravated burglary and child abuse. 


Morales was being held in the Galveston County jail on an immigration hold warrant awaiting extradition to Tennessee. 

Morales is accused of breaking into a 32-year-old woman’s house while she slept in January of 2008 and also of raping a 49-year-old woman this past January, according to the Nashville Tennessean newspaper.
