Quanis L. Phillips has been ordered to appear in federal court in Richmond on March 15. His probation officer reported that âPhillipsâ adjustment to supervision has been unsatisfactory. He continued: âPhillips has failed to appreciate the seriousness of his situation and has not taken responsibility for his actions.â
Since his release from federal prison in February 2009, Phillips has been shot twice, once last summer outside Michael Vickâs birthday party at Guadalajara Restaurant in Virginia Beach. He also was shot in another incident a month earlier.
According to the probation officerâs report, Phillips failed to report an arrest on reckless driving on a suspended license in November 2010 and having contact with Chesapeake police in April 2009.
Phillips, along with Vick took part not only in the dog fights at Vickâs Bad Newz Kennels but routinely killed dogs by methods including electrocution, hanging, drowning, and in at least one case by âslammingâ the dogâs body onto the concrete floor. In one session in April 2007, at least eight dogs were killed through these methods.
Phillips took a plea deal, and agreed to testify against Vick, in exchange for a shorter sentence.
