Even Jesus opposed gun control

The framers of the Constitution understood the necessity for American citizens to keep and bear arms. However, our society has been so influenced by authoritarian legislators and those on the left, that many Americans now believe that we should give up that right...Thus leaving ourselves, our homes, and even our loved-ones at the mercy of the criminals. You see, as with all laws, gun laws only affect the law-abiding.

In most states, one needs a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Once again, the only people who observe this restriction are law-abiding citizens, thus making this measure rather useless and even laughable.

Laws which prohibit law-abiding citizens from possessing and carrying firearms are certainly not lost on criminals. It is no coincidence that in the 32 years a handgun ownership ban was in place against the residents of the District of Columbia, the number of crimes to individuals (rape, robbery, murder, etc.) soared.

Criminals are keenly aware of the prospect of an armed citizen and will almost always steer clear of potential victims who may be armed.

In 1982, the town of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed an ordinance which required all heads of household to have at least one gun in the house. The burglary rate immediately dropped an astounding 89 percent. Ten years after the law was passed, the burglary rate was still 72 percent less than it was in 1981.

Of course, the need to defend one's self is not a new one. Nor is the notion of limiting the citizenry's right to do so.

Much has been said on the subject, even before guns were invented.

What follows is a small collection of what many of man's greatest minds have said on the right to possess arms:

-The Roman philosopher Marcus Tullius Cicero: “Civilized people are taught by logic, barbarians, by necessity, communities by tradition; and the lesson inculcated even in wild beasts by nature itself. They learn that they have to defend their own bodies and persons lives from violence of any and every kind by all means within their power.”

-4th President of the United States, James Madison, while criticizing the governments of Europe: which “were afraid to trust the people with arms,” argued for “the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over almost every other nation.”

-American statesmen, Richard Henry Lee: “To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.”

-Writer, George Orwell: “Rifles, muskets, long-bows and hand-grenades are inherently democratic weapons. A complex weapon makes the strong stronger, while a simple weapon -- so long as there is no answer to it -- gives claws to the weak.”

-Roy Innis, National Chairman Congress of Racial Equality: “To make inexpensive guns impossible to get is to say that you're putting a money test on getting a gun. It's racism in its worst form.”

-35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy: “Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom.”

Indian leader, Mahatma Gandhi: “Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest.”

Even Jesus weighed in on the subject, in the Gospel of Luke (22:35-38): “When I sent you out barefoot without purse or pack, were you ever short of anything?...It is different now, whoever has a purse had better take it with him, and his pack too; and if he has no sword, let him sell his cloak to buy one.”

Since people have had the opportunity as well as the need to arm themselves, there have been those attempting to rob them of this right. It was as true in Colonial America, as it was in Hitler's Germany. In 1938, the Nazis enacted a gun-control act, which robbed not only Jews, but all citizens of the right to defend themselves.

In 1942, Adolf Hitler made the following statement: “The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to permit the conquered Eastern peoples to have arms. History teaches that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so.”

Near the end of World War II, the Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto once remarked that the reason Japan never invaded the mainland of the United States was because “there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.”

Americans´ right to keep and bear arms has truly served us well.

It is also a well known fact that well armed citizens prevent crimes from occurring.

The fact is, the police cannot be everywhere at once, and if you choose NOT to arm yourself or your family, that is your decision, but make no mistake...the police will not be there to defend you, they will only be there to take a report after the tragedy has occurred.

However, remember the old adage: “It is better to be judged by twelve than carried by six!”

So-called 'gun-free zones' never protect the innocent

Thursday night's mass shooting at a multiplex movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, left 12 people dead and another 59 injured.

The gunman, James Holmes, 24, reportedly used a semi-automatic rifle, a shotgun and a pistol as he walked up and down the packed aisles, stopping to reload and picking off frightened patrons as they attempted to flee.

One of those inside the theater, Jennifer Seeger, told the Associated Press: "He would reload and shoot and anyone who would try to leave would just get killed."

Holmes was apparently prepared to kill many more, as police have reported the shooter was carrying 6,000 rounds of ammunition.

While every aspect on the alleged shooter's life will be analyzed by the mainstream press in the days to come, the MSM will undoubtedly overlook the fact that the Century 16 movie theater had a firm policy against firearms, even for those who have concealed weapons permits.

WorldNetDaily reports that the theater's parent company, Cinemark Holdings Inc. has a strict 'gun-free' policy at all of their 459 theaters across the U.S. and Latin America.

Given this, the similarities between this and the Virginia Tech massacre are striking and a bit maddening.

The shooting spree orchestrated on April 16, 2007, by Seung Hui Cho and the incredible carnage wrought by that one man, was a tragedy that did not have to occur. Regardless of his motive or grim determination, had one or two students or teachers been armed, his murderous attack in Tech's Norris Hall could have been stopped before 32 innocent lives were lost.

In 2006, a Va. Tech student was disciplined for carrying a gun on campus, even though he possessed a concealed weapons permit. Va. Tech officials were quick to point out that their school was a "gun-free zone." That assertion has not only proven to be naive but deadly as well.

In January 2006, House Bill 1572 was introduced in the Virginia General assembly. The legislation would have allowed students who possess a concealed weapons permit to carry their guns anywhere on campus. Most schools in Virginia have policies against students and faculty carrying guns on campus, Va. Tech is of course one of those schools. Unfortunately, the bill failed to pass through the Committee on Militia, Police, and Public Safety.

Va. Tech Vice President Larry Hincker gave the following statement shortly after the aforementioned measure died in committee: "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty, and visitors feel safe on our campus."

One wonders if Mr. Hincker has the courage to sit down with every family who lost a son or daughter that spring day and explain that statement?

As much as the liberals are interested in trying to understand the painful life that supposedly leads someone to commit mass murder, they are just as uninterested in trying to understand how a well-armed citizenry can make these mass shootings a thing of the past.

-In October 1997, Mississippi teenager Luke Woodham killed his mother and then drove to Pearl High School where he killed two students and wounded seven more. Assistant Principal Joel Myrick ran a quarter of a mile to his vehicle and returned with his .45 pistol. Myrick confronted the teen aged killer and detained him while waiting for police to arrive. Woodham was attempting to leave the high school and planned to drive to the local middle school and continue his killing. Myrick's actions undoubtedly saved the lives of many children that day.

-In January 2002, a Nigerian student named Peter Odighizuwa shot and killed three people at the Appalachian School of Law in rural Virginia. His shooting spree was ended when fellow students Todd Ross and Ted Bessen went to their cars and retrieved their own guns. The pair returned and ordered Odighizuwa to drop his weapon and held him until police arrived.

-In February 2007, at a Salt Lake City mall, an armed off-duty police officer shot and killed a young Muslim named Sulejman Talovic. The officer (Ken Hammond), prevented a massacre as Talovic was found with a backpack full of ammunition, a shotgun, and a pistol. Before Officer Hammond ended the shooting spree, Talovic murdered five people.

Currently, Utah and Oregon are the only states in the union which allow teachers and staff to carry weapons in their schools. It is no coincidence that there has never been a school shooting spree unleashed in either of those states.

In 1975, handgun ownership was banned in Washington D.C. Since that time, violent criminals have basically over-taken our nation's capital. From 1976-2005, an astounding 8,278 murders were committed in that city and guns were used in nearly all of them. The lawless state which has become our nation's capital is a great example of how armed thugs will always take advantage of an unarmed populous.

In 2008, the Supreme Court heard the case of the legitimacy of the D.C. handgun ban. A majority of the Justices saw the ban as having been in direct conflict with our Constitution and the ban was overturned. Chief Justice John Roberts let everyone in the courtroom know his opinion that the ban was unreasonable when he posed the question: "What is reasonable about a total ban on possession of handguns?"

What the anti-2nd Amendment activists deem a 'gun-free zone,' is actually seen by violent criminals as a 'free-fire zone.'

The fact of the matter is that criminals are emboldened by gun control laws.

The old adage always holds true..."laws are only for the law-abiding."

10-year-old boy fought for his life against HIV-infected man inside Wendy's

Portland, OR - On July 1, Adam Brown, 49, was waiting inside the restroom at the Wendy's restaurant on Northeast Sandy Boulevard when a 10-year-old boy walked in and was quickly attacked.

According to police, Brown grabbed the boy and immediately locked the door, ordering the child to strip naked while he held a knife to his throat.

Though the boy suffered knife wounds to his neck, hands and legs, he fought off his attacker and eventually broke the knife in half.

The victim's father heard the commotion and instructed the manager to unlock the bathroom door.

With the help of other customers, the boy was pulled out and Brown was confined to the restroom until police arrived.

Sue Roberts was in the restaurant at the time and told KPTV: "I came in and just heard a little boy screaming, then his dad came in and said call 911, so we got our cell phones and called 911."

Brown claimed to have a gun and a standoff ensued. While inside the bathroom, he reportedly started two small fires.

However, the only weapon recovered was the knife allegedly used on the boy.

The 10-year-old victim required emergency surgery, but has since been released from the hospital and is now recovering at home.

Brown has been charged with attempted murder, assault in the first degree, sex abuse in the first degree, kidnap in the first degree, arson, furnishing false information to a police officer and coercion.

Brown is a convicted child molester and HIV positive.

The Associated Press has reported that Brown recently spent eight years in an Oregon prison on sodomy charges.

Dog stolen from disabled veteran in Norfolk

Shortly after Lynnette Combs dropped her beloved dog, Fergie off at her friend's house in the Ocean View section of Norfolk on Monday evening, the pit-bull terrier got loose and headed toward the place she loves the most..the Ocean View dog park.

The woman tried desperately to keep up with her, but the young dog was too fast and she quickly lost sight of her and by the time she reached the park, Fergie was gone.

Of course, Ms. Combs was devastated and spent the next several hours making fliers and posting them around the neighborhood.

Then, she learned something very troubling.

A witness contacted her and said she saw someone grab Fergie near the intersection of Maple Avenue and Granby Street and quickly place her into his vehicle and drive away.

The man, described only as a black male was driving a silver Hyundai Elantra. The witness was only able to write down a partial license plate number (VGF-404).

Unfortunately, dog fighting is common in Norfolk and given Fergie's breed, it is not hard to imagine the reason why someone would take her and not contact the owner, nor a local shelter.

Fergie was wearing a tag with a phone number and she is micro-chipped as well.

Ms. Combs has been n constant contact with the local shelters and animal control but has yet to hear anything.

Both animal control and the Norfolk Police Department are looking for this dog. It is a felony to steal someone's pet in Virginia.

Because of Fergie's incredibly sweet disposition, Ms. Combs was in the process of training her to be used as a therapy dog. A disabled Navy veteran herself, her greatest hope was that she and Fergie could travel to veterans' hospitals in an effort to give back to those who have given so much for the rest of us.

If you have any information on the vehicle in question, the person who took the dog or know where Fergie is being held, please contact Ms. Combs at 757-480-5952 or 757-348-2605.

Fergie is now in desperate need of her medication which treats a seizure disorder.

A reward of $200 is being offered for Fergie's safe return.

Did Ted Kennedy get away with murder?

Sometime around midnight, on July 18, 1969 Kennedy drove his Oldsmobile 88 off of a small bridge on Chappaquiddick island, into eight feet of chilly water. The vehicle landed upside-down. While Kennedy managed to free himself from the wreck and swim to safety, his passenger, 28-year-old Mary Jo Kopechne was left in the car to drown.

Once he reached shore, Kennedy claims to have made seven or eight attempts to rescue Kopechne, but could not free her.

Kennedy then walked back to the cottage where he and four other men, were partying with several young women known as the “Boiler Room Girls“ who had worked on Robert Kennedy‘s campaign. Though Kennedy passed by a fire station and a private home to return to the cottage, he never stopped to ask for help for the trapped Kopechne.

He returned to the party and according to Kennedy himself, informed his cousin and a friend of the situation. The two men, Joseph Gargan and Paul Markham claimed to have returned to the scene of the accident and actually made several unsuccessful attempts to free Kopechne.

Then Kennedy’s story takes an even stranger turn.

After the failed rescue attempts, Kennedy claims to have jumped back into the water and made the 500-foot swim across the channel back to Edgartown. He then walked back to his hotel and spent the night. He even took the time to change clothes and pay a visit to the front-desk, to complain about a noisy party--no doubt Kennedy's sloppy attempt at securing an alibi.

The next morning, Gargan and Markham around 8:00 a.m., and were supposedly shocked to discover that Kennedy never reported the accident to police. According to Kennedy‘s own testimony, he told them: "about my own thoughts and feelings as I swam across that channel ... that somehow when they arrived in the morning that they were going to say that Mary Jo was still alive"

The two men along with Kennedy went back to Chappaquiddick, where Kennedy spent some time making phone calls, seeking advice from various individuals as to how to proceed.

Meanwhile, two fisherman had discovered the submerged car and notified police. At 8:45a.m. a diver recovered the lifeless body of Mary Jo Kopechne.

It was not until 10:00 a.m., over nine hours after driving-off of the bridge that Ted Kennedy went to the police station in Edgarton to report the accident.

Kennedy then gave the following prepared statement to police:

“On July 18, 1969, at approximately 11:15 p.m. in Chappaquiddick, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, I was driving my car on Main Street on my way to get the ferry back to Edgartown. I was unfamiliar with the road and turned right onto Dike Road, instead of bearing hard left on Main Street. After proceeding for approximately one-half mile on Dike Road I descended a hill and came upon a narrow bridge.

The car went off the side of the bridge. There was one passenger with me, one Miss Mary [Kopechne], a former secretary of my brother Sen. Robert Kennedy. The car turned over and sank into the water and landed with the roof resting on the bottom. I attempted to open the door and the window of the car but have no recollection of how I got out of the car. I came to the surface and then repeatedly dove down to the car in an attempt to see if the passenger was still in the car. I was unsuccessful in the attempt. I was exhausted and in a state of shock.

I recall walking back to where my friends were eating. There was a car parked in front of the cottage and I climbed into the backseat. I then asked for someone to bring me back to Edgartown. I remember walking around for a period and then going back to my hotel room. When I fully realized what had happened this morning, I immediately contacted the police”

In a move which must have been rather tortuous for her parents, Kennedy attended Mary Jo's funeral, wearing a neck brace (which he reportedly never wore again) and looking rather pathetic.

The diver who recovered Kopechne’s body, John Farrar testified at the official inquest that her body was found where the air pocket would have formed. He said: “Had I received a call within five to ten minutes of the accident occurring, and was able, as I was the following morning, to be at the victim's side within twenty-five minutes of receiving the call, in such event there is a strong possibility that she would have been alive on removal from the submerged car.”

A week after the incident, Kennedy pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident, a misdemeanor and received a suspended two-month sentence. Kennedy then went on national television to repeat his rather implausible story, and to ask for the public’s “prayers.”

The ensuing scandal and questionable details given by all of those involved is now left to speculation. It was obvious to most people that Kennedy had allowed a young girl to drown, in a desperate and self-serving attempt to protect his political career.

The incident all but guaranteed that Kennedy could never be a serious presidential candidate.

With his death in 2009, Ted Kennedy took the answers to the mystery still surrounding the deadly incident to his grave.

Strangely enough, no autopsy was ever performed on Kopechne's remains.

On Wednesday, three gang members were charged with plotting to assassinate Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

According to a Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) press release, investigators within the MCSO's Threats Unit "arrested three maximum security inmates for conspiracy to commit murder stemming from a complex plot from assassinating Sheriff Arpaio to killing a fellow inmate."

Those charged were Mexican Mafia gang members Mark Cons, 33, and Rudolfo Santos, 37, both of whom are currently being held in the 4th Avenue Jail on other felony charges.

Also charged was Samuel Matta, 29, who is described as "a member of a documented street gang" and currently incarcerated in the state prison in Florence.

All three have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

Samuel Matta was reportedly planning to publicly assassinate Sheriff Arpaio with a high powered rifle once he was released from jail. However, he failed to make bond and was unable to carry out his plan.

Matta "believed that the sheriff was personally responsible for the deportation of some of his members of his family to Mexico from their home in El Mirage, AZ,” the release states.

Sheriff Arpaio told reporters: “Given our jailhouse clientele, my staff is always monitoring situations which can potentially lead to violent criminal activity both inside and outside of the jail walls. In this case, their professionalism and perseverance prevented two potential murders.”

According to the MCSO, this is the third assassination plot against the sheriff uncovered this year alone.

Of course, Sheriff Arpaio is arguably the most high-profile law enforcement official in the country, as always, with increased notoriety comes increased danger.

This, combined with Arpaio's tough stance on illegal immigration, the numerous arrests he has made of both drug and human smugglers and his refusal to back down against the Obama administration, it is little wonder the five-time sheriff is so often targeted.

In March, the MCSO's Cold Case Posse announced that their investigation uncovered evidence suggesting Obama’s birth documentation is fraudulent.

Arpaio is set to hold another news conference on July 17, in which he has promised to announce more "shocking" evidence against President Obama's eligibility.

Eric Holder could be jailed over ‘Fast and Furious’ docs

The House Oversight Committee has scheduled a vote for next week on whether or not to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress over his refusal to turn over documents detailing the Justice Department’s notorious Fast and Furious (aka Operation Gunrunner) program, which put thousands of assault weapons in the hands of the Mexican drug cartels.

The Committee subpoenaed the documents on Oct. 12, 2011, which was followed by several unheeded warnings from Committee Chairman, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA).

On Jan. 31, a frustrated Issa said that Holder has tried to “obstruct our investigation and deceive the public.”

Issa also made public, a letter written to Holder stating: “This committee will have no alternative but to move forward with proceedings to hold you in contempt of Congress…Your actions lead us to conclude that the department is actively engaged in a cover-up.”

Issa gave the Attorney General until Feb. 9 to comply…which he obviously did not do to the Committee’s satisfaction.

So what are the consequences for Eric Holder if he is found to be in contempt of Congress?

Under current law, if a subpoenaed witness refuses to either produce certain documents or to testify, the Committee may cite the individual for contempt and refer the matter to the full chamber (in this case, the U.S. House of Representatives) for action.

If the House then voted on and passed a resolution to issue a contempt citation, the Sergeant-at-Arms for the House would be tasked with arresting Holder.

The Attorney General would then be brought to the House floor to answer to the charges and could then either be released or imprisoned.

The House has the power to either imprison the defendant as a punishment, or until the witness fully complies with the subpoena.

Either way, the witness may only be held in prison until the current session of Congress ends (January 2013 in this case).

So, it is possible that Eric Holder could go to jail over failing to cooperate with Congress’ investigation.

The last time a U.S. Attorney General was held in contempt of Congress occurred on August 6, 1998, after Janet Reno refused to turn over certain Clinton administration documents to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

However, the full House did not consider the measure for a vote and the documents were eventually revealed during President Clinton’s impeachment trial.

What did Holder know and when did he actually know it?

Could Holder also be charged as an accomplice to murder?
