On Monday, police in Palmview, TX, seized a stash of Ecstasy pills during a routine traffic stop, nothing too unusual for police officers working so close to the U.S./Mexican border. However, they were rather shocked when they took a closer look at the pills and saw the face of Barack Obama staring back at them.

Palmview police spokesman Lenny Sanchez told the Associated Press the pills look similar to a "vitamin for kids.”

The pills were found along with black tar heroin, cocaine, marijuana, and other Ecstasy pills that looked like Homer Simpson and the Smurfs. The driver faces multiple counts of felony drug possession.

What follows are a few facts about Ecstasy:

-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, or Ecstasy is made in laboratories and was first produced in Germany in the early 1900s, as an appetite suppressant.

-A University of Michigan study found that more than 10 percent of high school seniors have tried Ecstasy at least once.

-According to the National Drug Intelligence Center, Ecstasy usually costs between $20 and $30 a pill.

-The drug produces hallucinogenic effects and users often claim feeling uninhibited, as well as heightened senses, these effects usually last between 4 to 6 hours. Ecstasy is commonly found at all-night parties known as ‘raves.’

-Ecstasy use has been known to cause confusion, depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, muscle tension, involuntary teeth clenching, nausea, blurred vision, tremors, dehydration, hyperthermia, exceptionally high fever, and heart or kidney failure
