Actor Rip Torn charged with breaking into Connecticut bank

Friday night, Connecticut State Police responded to a burglary alarm at a Litchfield Bancorp branch in Salisbury, and allegedly discovered Rip Torn, 78, inside the closed bank. The police report says that Torn was armed “with a loaded revolver” and was “highly intoxicated.”

The actor lives in Salisbury.

Torn has been charged with burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, as well as weapons charges. He is being held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled for arraignment on Monday in Bantam Superior Court.

A Hollywood veteran, Torn starred in the movie “Men in Black,” and won an Emmy for his work on the HBO series “The Larry Sanders Show.” Most recently, he has appeared in a recurring role on NBC’s “30 Rock.”

Torn has several DUI arrests, with the last coming in 2009 in Connecticut.
