Friday night, Connecticut State Police responded to a burglary alarm at a Litchfield Bancorp branch in Salisbury, and allegedly discovered Rip Torn, 78, inside the closed bank. The police report says that Torn was armed âwith a loaded revolverâ and was âhighly intoxicated.â
The actor lives in Salisbury.
Torn has been charged with burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, as well as weapons charges. He is being held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled for arraignment on Monday in Bantam Superior Court.
A Hollywood veteran, Torn starred in the movie âMen in Black,â and won an Emmy for his work on the HBO series âThe Larry Sanders Show.â Most recently, he has appeared in a recurring role on NBCâs â30 Rock.â
Torn has several DUI arrests, with the last coming in 2009 in Connecticut.
