In the wake of the shooting which occurred at his birthday party last month, convicted felon, Michael Vick, has been denied traveling outside the state of Pennsylvania.
Vick is still serving a three yearsâ probation, after serving 18 months in prison on a federal dog fighting conviction. As such, he must have all travel plans approved by his probation officer.
Over the weekend, Vick missed two events, at which he was scheduled to appear.
The director of one of those, events, Cornelius Corprew, who runs Camp Elite Sports football camp in Raliegh, NC, is angry about the last minute way he was informed that Vick would be a no-show.
âThey called early, like 2 o'clock in the morning, telling us he's not coming,â said Corprew, âAnd then we couldn't speak to him. It was through one of his associates.â
Corprew continued: âWe're not crazy. No state agency is communicating at 2 o'clock in the morning that he's not allowed to come. I think that was a selfish act.â
Corprew said that Vick was to be paid $4,000 for his appearance at the camp, $2,000 of which, he has already been paid, as a deposit. He went on to explain that even as late as Saturday, he was told by Vickâs representatives that the Eagles quarterback would be there on Sunday, before receiving the late night call.
The other missed event was a charity golf tournament which bares Vickâs name, held in Atlanta, GA.
The shooting on June 25, left Quanis Phillips, Vickâs co-defendant in the 2007 federal dog fighting case, with a gunshot wound to the leg. In 2007, Phillips took a plea deal, and agreed to testify against Vick, in exchange for a shorter sentence.
Phillips, along with Vick took part not only in the dog fights at Vickâs Bad Newz Kennels but routinely killed dogs by methods including electrocution, hanging, drowning, and in at least one case by âslammingâ the dogâs body onto the concrete floor. In one session in April 2007, at least eight dogs were killed through these methods.
