Norfolk woman sentenced to one year for killing husband

On Friday, Judge Louis A. Sherman sentenced Lashiba Tynes, 34, to one year in jail for killing her husband, Shannon Shorter, 35, during an argument in 2007.

Originally charged with second-degree murder, Tynes pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in August 2009.

Upon her release, Tynes will be on indeterminate supervised probation.

Since Jan. 1, 2007, there have been 118 homicides in Norfolk.
