Possible serial rapist arrested in Portsmouth

On Friday, Portsmouth police arrested Kindale Keith Moore, 21, for the brutal sexual assault of an 87-year-old woman which occurred on May 17, 2009, in the River Pointe section of the city.

Moore may also be the man responsible for a series of attacks targeting elderly women throughout Hampton Roads.

Several women have been attacked over the last nine months in neighborhoods along Portsmouth’s West Norfolk Rd., with the most recent attack occurring last Sunday. All of the victims are between the ages of 65-87.

On Sunday night, a 65-year-old woman in the Castle Heights neighborhood heard rustling outside, and walked out to investigate. She was shoved back into the house by a man who had been hiding in the bushes. The woman struggled with the assailant and was sexually assaulted.

There have been two similar attacks in Virginia Beach as well.

Moore has been charged with abduction with intent to defile, burglary/entering a house to rape and object sexual penetration by force.

Moore now sits in the Portsmouth City Jail, awaiting a March 31 hearing.
