During their latest effort in the ongoing statewide safety campaign, known as âOperation Air, Land & Sea,â Virginia State troopers wrote 2,157 speeding tickets as well as 394 reckless driving violations. They also issued many citations for DUI and safety belt violations.
According to State Police Superintendent W. Steven Flaherty, last weekend was the fifth this year in this saturation effort designed to make Virginiaâs highways safer.
As Labor Day weekend approaches, Virginia drivers can expect to see even more stepped up patrols.
