On Wednesday, Junious Boyd Batten, 42, pleaded guilty to raping a 55-year-old mentally disabled man who was in his care. The multiple assaults took place between 2006-2007 at the Cote de Neige Home for Adults in Newport News.

As part of an agreement with prosecutors, Batten pleaded guilty to one count each of forcible sodomy, non-forcible sodomy and abuse and neglect of an incapacitated adult. He could receive life in prison, when he is sentenced on July 23.

According to court documents, the assaults took place when Batten ordered his victim to get undressed, and lie face down on the bedroom floor.

In March 2008, the victim testified: “He got on top of me and ... do something wrong, something he (was not) supposed to be doing.”

Batten also admitted to sexually assaulting a 24-year-old man who lives at the nursing home. The victim reported the abuse to a counselor.

In 2008, he testified against Batten, saying: “He did a lot of sick, twisted things, having me pull my pants down while he masturbated.” Batten also forced him to watch as he performed sexual acts in front of him with another man.

In May 2009, a jury awarded the family of the disabled man $750,000 in damages, after they filed suit against Cote de Neige. According to the lawsuit, Batten was charged with 13 crimes before and during the time he was employed by the nursing home.

Gov. Bob McDonnell has just rejected an appeal for clemency for death row inmate, and double-murderer Darick Demorris Walker, 37, clearing the way for his execution next Thursday.

A stay from the U.S. Supreme Court now represents the only way to stop his execution.

According to trial records, on Nov. 22, 1996, Walker broke into the apartment of Stanley Beale, pointed a gun at him and asked: “What you keep coming up to my door? What you looking for me for?” Beale told Walker he did not know him, Walker then shot beale to death in front of his 13-year-old daughter.

The other murder occurred on June 18, 1997, when Walker forced his way into the home of Clarence Elwood Threat, after the man’s girlfriend turned Walker down for a date. Walker shot Threat seven times.

Throughout his lengthy appeals process, Walker has made various claims including that he is mentally disabled.

The execution will be Virginia's 107th since the 1976 U.S. Supreme Court decision allowing the resumption of the death penalty. Only Texas has carried out more executions with 451.

In Virginia, the condemned are given the choice of death either by lethal injection or the electric chair. On March 18, convicted murderer, rapist Paul Warner Powell chose the electric chair, making him only the third to do so since the Commonwealth began using lethal injection as a means of execution in 1994.

Convicted double-murderer Darick Demorris Walker, 37, was put to death tonight by lethal injection at the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt, Va. The time of death was 9:24 p.m.

Earlier tonight, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected Walker’s request for a stay of execution, which removed any hope he had of escaping his sentence. Last week, Gov. Bob McDonnell rejected Walker’s plea for clemency.

Walker was convicted of two separate murders in Richmond, the last of which occurred 13 years ago.

According to trial records, on Nov. 22, 1996, Walker broke into the apartment of Stanley Beale, pointed a gun at him and asked: “What you keep coming up to my door?
