On Thursday, Jeremy "Jack" Duffer, 40, a former youth pastor at Seaford Baptist Church, was sentenced in a York County courtroom, after pleading guilty to one count of indecent liberties with a child and eight counts of sexual assault on a minor.

In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to drop nine additional aggravated sexual battery charges against Duffer. The assaults were committed against two separate girls between the ages of 13 and 17.

Judge William C. Andrews III sentenced Duffer to five years on the indecent liberties charge and 10 years on each of the aggravated sexual battery charges, suspending eight years and six months.

Duffer will spend 17 years in prison, have to register as a sex offender upon his release, and will be financially responsible for all counseling services sought by his victims.

Duffer had been a pastor for 17 years and prior to coming to work at Seaford Baptist Church in 2008, he worked at a church in Honolulu. He is married with four children.
