On Friday, Scottie Lee Martinez, 37, of Dumfries, Va. was arrested on child pornography charges.
Shortly after the arrest, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, Neil H. MacBride told reporters: âThe allegations in this case are very disturbing and a reminder that every photo in child pornography cases represents a real victim. We're aggressively pursuing these cases to protect other children from becoming the next victim.â
According to the U.S. Attorneyâs office, a fellow service member reported Martinez for visiting websites associated with child pornography.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service seized Martinezâs laptop computer and has reportedly found more than 3,000 images of child pornography.
Even more troubling, court documents reveal that more than 600 images allegedly show Martinez engaged in sexual acts with a minor.
If convicted, Martinez faces up to 30 years in prison.
