Former CIA official pleads guilty to drugging, abusing woman

On Monday, in U.S. District Court in Washington, former CIA officer and Chesapeake native, Andrew M. Warren, 42, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse and one count of using cocaine while possessing a firearm.

Between 2007-2008, while Warren was serving as the CIA station chief in Algeria, two women accused him of drugging and raping them.

At the time of his arrest, on April 26, 2010, Warren was living in Norfolk and was no longer employed by the CIA, he had been fired. Norfolk police and federal agents found Warren at a local motel, and used a taser on him when he tried to escape.

According to police, Warren was armed and using cocaine.

In a search of his apartment, investigators discovered bottles of Valium and Xanax and photos of the two women, among other evidence related to the case.

While living in Norfolk, one of his neighbor’s filed a warrant against him, after he allegedly exposed himself to her at her front door.

Warren faces up to 10 years in prison. He will be sentenced on September 9.
