This morning, Richmond police arrested Charles W. Wallace, 64, of Zion Street in South Richmond, after he allegedly attempted to set his neighbor on fire, on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim, a 50-year-old woman, was pulled away to safety by other neighbors, who witnessed the attack.
According to police, Wallace had already doused the woman with gasoline and was trying to set her ablaze with a lighter.
Wallace is being charged with attempted murder, attempted malicious wounding, assault and battery and property damage.
A motive for the attack is not known at this time.
