(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — SaaS solution distributor VAR Dynamics announced on Monday that it has launched Zimbra Cloud, a cloud-based productivity suite to compete with market leaders Office 365 and Google Apps.

According to the press release, Zimbra Cloud is priced at $3.50 per user, which is about $1.50 to $2.50 less than the per user price of the alternatives.

Prior to this offering, VAR Dynamics offered its partners “Zimbra Business” at $5.95 per user and “Zimbra Personal” at $3.95 per user. Zimbra Cloud consolidates these two offerings while lowering the price point, according to the press release. Zimbra Cloud delivers virtually the same features and functionality of the current Zimbra Collaboration Server Network Edition 7.1.3.

VAR Dynamics has launched Zimbra cloud with add-ons like NotifySync, Global Relay Archiving, Secure Messaging and inbound/outbound TLS support. according to the announcement, Zimbra currently has more than 60 million paid mailboxes.

“With all the fuss over Office 365 and Google Apps, we felt there was an opening in the market for a significantly lower-priced option for SMBs that still delivers a very powerful and competitive feature set for productivity gains,” Matt Baldwin, CTO for VAR Dynamics said in a statement. “With Zimbra Cloud, VAR Dynamics’ partners in competitive sales situations with Office 365 or Google Apps can now offer a very attractive alternative to their SMB customers, one that better fits their real-world budgets and needs.”

VAR Dynamics says its private-label hosted services are branded by parnters who offer them as Enterprise Class solutions to SMBs. The company’s services include hosted Microsoft Exchange, Dynamics CRM and SharePoint as well as hosted TenDigits MobileAccess for Dynamics CRM, secure messaging, email archiving, and more.

VMware acquired Zimbra from Yahoo! in 2010.
